Merely a Simulation

Brief

Designing and illustrating one’s own album cover can often be a real mind-freak. The cover for Merely a Simulation turned out to be the exception. My self-imposed brief leaned in the direction of early 80’s computer brochures to go along with the music retro-sensibilties.

SOLUTION

I ended up reimagnining my studio setup… as if the album had been produced back in the day… surrounded by the artifacts and elements of the time. Can you spot all the easter eggs?

I modeled all of these elemetns from scratch, rendered the scene in Cinema 4D using Redshift, composited everything in After Effects, with some final tweaks in Photoshop.
