Black Monday Murders

Brief

This project is an ongoing personal project of mine—creating the main titles for a televsion series that does not exist (yet). Black Monday Murders is a comic book series created by Jonathan Hickman and Tomm Coker, published by Image Comics. On the surface, it’s a gritty noir detective story… but underneath lies the true narrative of money, blood… and magic.

SOLUTION

I had the great fortune of participating in the Main Title Design Workshop at Sarofsky Labs. During the course of the workshop I executed the first of my conceptual takes on this title sequence.

Our title sequence invites the viewer to pick away at the decaying veneer of corrupt financial institutions to reveal the horrors and unspeakable sacrifices by which they’ve maintained their obscene wealth and power.

Let’s see past the facade.
